The announcement described openings in December 2025; current HOYTS listings confirm IMAX sessions at Carousel, but the available sources do not verify current Innaloo IMAX sessions or its technical specifications.
What the 2025 announcement said
On 6 November 2025, PerthNow reported that Event Cinemas Innaloo would add an IMAX Laser theatre as part of a major refurbishment. The report described a 4K projection system and said the theatre was planned to open in time for Avatar: Fire and Ash, which it identified as having an Australian release date of 19 December 2025.
The same report said HOYTS Carousel in Cannington had announced a 4K Laser IMAX scheduled to open in mid-December 2025. These are plans reported in November 2025, not proof of either venue’s current schedule. “4K” and “Laser” in the announcement do not establish that the two systems use identical equipment or deliver the same viewing experience.

Event Cinemas Innaloo
The November announcement is evidence of an Innaloo plan, but the sources available here do not establish whether IMAX sessions are currently on sale there. Check Event Cinemas’ live Innaloo listings before making plans; do not treat the 2025 target date as a current confirmation.
Can you compare the two IMAX theatres?
Not reliably from the published details available here. PerthNow reported the planned projection descriptions, while the current HOYTS page confirms Carousel’s IMAX listing; neither source supplies comparable screen dimensions, projector models, aspect ratios, or current Innaloo session information. There is therefore no supported basis to say which screen is bigger or which venue has better image quality.

Could RAC WA e-vouchers reduce the ticket cost?
RAC WA’s movie e-voucher page lists both Innaloo and Carousel as participating cinema locations. It says vouchers can be used at the box office or entered during direct online booking. The page does not establish whether vouchers can be applied to IMAX sessions or any IMAX surcharge, so check the voucher terms and final booking total before relying on one.
