The 2025 Everlasting Kings Park Festival ran from 12 to 29 September, marking 60 years of the Western Australian Botanic Garden. Kings Park’s spring celebration brought wildflower displays together with more than 70 walks, talks, workshops, wellness events and family activities. Anniversary highlights included archival exhibitions, floral installations and the release of the White Diamond waxflower.
When was the 2025 festival, and what did it include?
The 2025 festival ran from 12–29 September at Kings Park and Bold Park. Kings Park and Botanic Garden announced a program of free and low-cost exhibitions, walks, talks, wellness events, guided tours and workshops. Its recap counted more than 70 events, while the official map and calendar included self-guided trails, daily guided walks, plant-sale events, photography and horticulture workshops, science activities, bike tours and family programming.
The program also featured the Native Plant Sale, Everlasting Ideas horticultural talks, ABC Radio broadcasts and a Community Garden Party. The official recap listed a free Poolgarla Family Day and a free Community Garden Party on 29 September. Because this was a dated 2025 program, those listings describe that edition rather than current event availability.
Why was 2025 a milestone year?
The festival marked the 60th anniversary of the Western Australian Botanic Garden, which Kings Park describes as the State’s flora conservation hub. Anniversary features included White Diamond waxflower installations at the entrances, archival exhibitions at the State Library of Western Australia and WA Museum Boola Bardip, and a floral installation at the State Buildings.

The Botanic Garden is focused on native flora and provides a setting for conservation, horticulture, education and scientific research. The festival’s anniversary therefore celebrated both a garden and its role in presenting and conserving Western Australia’s plant life.
What was the White Diamond waxflower?
White Diamond is a waxflower cultivar developed by the Kings Park Plant Development team for the anniversary. Its white flowers turn dark pink. Kings Park reported that it was released for retail on 25 August 2025 and that plants had sold out by the time of its 19 September 2025 recap. That is a historical stock update, not an indication of present availability.

Commemorative merchandise also included limited-edition prints and cards based on botanical artist Stacy Gardoll’s work, as well as sterling silver White Diamond earrings by jeweller Clare Pankhurst. Kings Park said the items were offered at Aspects of Kings Park; current stock is not established.
How does the festival prepare its wildflower displays?
The festival is not assembled only in the weeks before opening. Kings Park says garden planning, seed germination and nursery growing can begin up to three years in advance. In the lead-up to the event, approximately 25 staff and 20 volunteers plant wildflowers over a three-month period. Those staffing figures are the authority’s approximate published estimates.

Kings Park says the event has taken place each September since 1964, originally under the name Perth Wildflower Festival. It describes the festival as one of Australia’s longest-running festivals and says its purpose is to celebrate Western Australian plant life and promote its beauty and conservation.

The 2025 anniversary edition is a past event, not the current year’s program. Kings Park’s current festival information lists the 2026 dates as 18 September–4 October and describes thousands of wildflowers, more than 3,000 Western Australian plant species on display and dozens of activities. The festival’s long-running annual format connects these editions, but their dates and programs are distinct.
