In a deleted scene from the Survivor 48 finale, Eva Erickson says she does not want to “get fired”—a reference to the Final Four fire-making challenge. The moment comes before the last immunity challenge, while Eva is still eager to compete. Later that day, she faces Kamilla Karthigesu in fire-making and wins.
What happens in the deleted scene?
Dalton Ross’s May 22, 2025 report describes the Final Four preparing for the finale’s last immunity challenge. Kamilla Karthigesu reads Tree Mail, and Eva works out that its clues point to Simmotion, a challenge from the show’s history. Eva encourages the group to enjoy their last challenge.
When Kyle Fraser points out that winning could help someone make a case to the jury, Eva replies, “I don’t want to get fired.” In the context of the episode, she means she would rather not face the fire-making tiebreaker—not that she is unwilling to compete.
Was Eva still ready to compete?
Yes. The scene pairs her wish to avoid fire-making with a confessional expressing her determination to take on the final immunity challenge: “I am so ready for this final push. I am ready to rip. This is the last challenge I get to compete in. I’m going to put it all on the line.” Her reluctance is about the possible route to the Final Three, not about holding back in the challenge ahead.

Did Eva end up making fire?
Yes. Later in the finale, Eva faced Kamilla in the Final Four fire-making challenge and beat her. The deleted scene was filmed earlier on finale day, before the last immunity challenge; it is not footage of Eva refusing to take part after being assigned to make fire.
Did anyone offer to take Eva’s place?
After the finale, winner Kyle Fraser told TV Insider that he seriously considered giving up immunity and putting himself into fire so Eva would not have to. Fraser also said Joe Hunter was urging Eva to let him take her place. In Fraser’s recollection, Eva would not let him reverse the decision: “there was no way she was going to let me do it.” He said he was still considering surrendering immunity until they reached the bench.
