No verified evidence in the cited sources shows that Elon Musk bought XVideos. XVideos’ own 2025 transparency report identifies WebGroup Czech Republic (WGCZ) as its provider. The ownership claim should therefore be treated as an unverified rumor, not a completed deal. The real story is the platform’s regulatory scrutiny in Europe—and what a change of ownership could raise if one were ever confirmed.
Did Elon Musk buy XVideos?
The sources cited here do not substantiate an acquisition. XVideos’ January–June 2025 transparency report names WebGroup Czech Republic (WGCZ) as the platform provider. A 2014 WIPO domain decision documents historical operator context, but it does not establish present-day ownership or a Musk transaction. The reviewed FTC page covering Twitter/X, Boring Corp., xAI, and other companies owned by Elon Musk does not establish an XVideos deal either.
These sources do not prove that no announcement exists elsewhere or that ownership could not change later. They do mean the claim cannot responsibly be presented as fact on this evidence. No deal terms, purchase price, financing, motive, or operational plan are established.
What is known about XVideos’ operator and regulatory position?
WGCZ’s platform report
In its January–June 2025 transparency report, XVideos identifies WGCZ as its provider and describes its Digital Services Act (DSA) transparency and moderation processes. Because this is a platform-authored report, it establishes what the provider reports about itself, not independent verification of every practice.

European Commission proceedings
On 27 May 2025, the European Commission opened formal DSA proceedings involving XVideos and three other services, with concerns that included risks to minors and age verification. The Commission described the purpose of the law this way: “The DSA aims to ensure a safer environment online for minors, in this context, the European Commission has opened formal proceedings against Pornhub, Stripchat, XNXX, and XVideos for suspected breaches of the DSA.” (Commission announcement, 27 May 2025.)
On 26 March 2026, the Commission announced preliminary findings that XVideos and the other three platforms breached the DSA by failing to protect minors from exposure to pornographic content. The platforms could examine the investigation files and respond. These are contestable preliminary findings, not a final court judgment or a final determination of liability. (Commission announcement, 26 March 2026.)

Age assurance and privacy
The Commission says its age-verification solution became feature-ready on 15 April 2026. Its stated aim is to let people prove they meet an age threshold while limiting exposure of other personal data. The available Commission material does not establish that XVideos adopted the solution. (EU approach to age verification; Implementing Decision C(2025) 4764, 14 July 2025.)
What a hypothetical ownership change could mean
Without a verified transaction, there is no basis to attribute a strategy or outcome to Musk, XVideos, or WGCZ. A genuine ownership change would make several questions important to users, creators, studios, and regulators—but the answers would depend on the deal and subsequent decisions.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

- Governance: Who controls the service, and which corporate entity is accountable for compliance?
- Moderation and transparency: Would the platform change its processes, reporting, or enforcement? The existing WGCZ report describes the provider’s reported approach; it says nothing about a hypothetical successor’s policy.
- Age assurance and privacy: What method would the service use to prevent minors’ access, and what personal information would that method expose or retain? The Commission’s feature-ready solution is an available policy development, not evidence of XVideos adoption.
- Creator and studio relationships: Would contracts, payment arrangements, distribution, or content rules change? No terms or plans are established.
- Advertising and cross-promotion: X’s published paid-ad policy prohibits promotion of adult sexual content globally. That is a current constraint relevant to any hypothetical paid promotion on X, not evidence of a planned integration or policy change. (X Help Center: Adult or sexual products and services.)
- Jurisdiction and compliance: Any owner would still need to address the laws and regulatory processes applicable to the service. The Commission’s DSA proceedings make minor protection and age assurance immediate issues in the EU context; they do not establish how a future owner would respond.
What the industry can—and cannot—conclude
The relevant current-affairs story is not a confirmed Musk acquisition. It is an unverified claim set against a real and evolving regulatory process for XVideos in the European Union. The Commission’s 2025 opening of proceedings and its 2026 preliminary findings are separate stages, and neither amounts to a final judgment.
Until reliable transaction evidence appears, claims about a sale, its terms, or its effects on adult entertainment should remain labeled hypothetical. The sources establish WGCZ as the provider named in XVideos’ 2025 report, the Commission’s stated regulatory actions, and X’s existing paid-ad restriction—not a change of control or any post-acquisition policy.
