The images were not a leak: they were the couple’s authorized reveal, arriving after a day of online anticipation captured by posts such as “Me waiting for #DeepVeer wedding photos.”
What happened at Lake Como
Padukone and Singh married in Italy on November 14 and 15, 2018. Vogue India identifies the first ceremony as Konkani and the second as Anand Karaj. Some contemporaneous coverage, including India Today, also described the second ceremony as Sindhi; the labels vary across reports, so they should not be treated as interchangeable descriptions of the couple’s identities or traditions.
The events were deliberately private. Scroll reported that almost all media were outside the small group invited to attend, and that planners took steps to prevent photographs and video from leaking. India Today also reported a no-photos rule. One image did circulate before the official release, showing guests reacting to someone taking a picture, but that was not the couple’s official photo release.
When the official photos appeared
A little after 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, Padukone’s publicists shared two official photographs. Contemporaneous reports also described the couple as sharing the images through their social-media accounts. Their release turned the wait for authorized pictures into a public online moment.

Scroll’s account captured the anticipation with the question “Where are the photos?” and reproduced a post from November 14: “Me waiting for #DeepVeer wedding photos.” Those are examples from the coverage, not evidence that every fan or news outlet was waiting in the same way.
The reaction, in contemporary numbers
India Today reported on November 15, 2018, that Padukone’s Instagram post had more than 2 million likes within an hour and Singh’s had 1.5 million in the same period. Those are the figures reported at the time, not current counts or an independent measure of public opinion.

The jokes reflected the unusual contrast between a private event and a very public appetite for pictures. Scroll reproduced a November 14 post by Karan Johar: “I have not seen ya! I want to see just like the rest of the nation does”. It also quoted social-media user Sumana Mukherjee, who wrote on November 15: “If there isn’t a single leaked pic of a celeb wedding, are they celebs at all?”

The photos were two official images released after the ceremonies, not leaked pictures from inside the wedding. The couple’s decision to share them followed measures intended to keep the events private. Contemporary reporting documents the online excitement and the rapid likes reported for the posts, but it does not establish a measured claim that the entire country—or every fan—was waiting.
