No confirmed connection is established between Genshin Impact’s Ella Musk and Elon Musk. Ella is a fictional Mondstadt NPC who studies Hilichurlian; the real-world link came later, when a 2021 promotional challenge involving an Ella Musk-associated account mentioned Musk and drew a brief response from him.
Who is Ella Musk in Genshin Impact?
Ella Musk is a fictional, open-world NPC in Mondstadt, known for studying Hilichurlian, the language associated with Hilichurls. She has in-game dialogue and a role in the game’s treatment of Hilichurl culture. The Genshin Impact Wiki’s character reference describes her as a scholar; it does not establish that she is a representation of Elon Musk.
Why was Elon Musk connected to Ella?
The connection is best understood as a name joke that became part of a social-media promotion, rather than as game lore. In October 2021, Genshin Impact’s social channels publicized follower milestones through an account associated with Ella Musk. The proposed milestones included following Elon Musk, inviting him to stream Genshin Impact, and inviting him to the company’s headquarters, according to contemporaneous coverage from VICE/Waypoint and the South China Morning Post.
The challenge was deleted after negative reactions online, as those reports described. That episode is evidence of a short-lived promotion and its reception—not a measured survey of all Genshin Impact players or proof that the milestones were completed.

What did Elon Musk say?
On October 14, 2021, Musk posted, “Can’t wait to be in Genshin Impact,” according to the contemporaneous account reported by VICE/Waypoint. It was a social-media response to the campaign. The cited coverage does not confirm that Musk appeared in the game, or that a crossover was planned or released.
Did the Ella Musk account continue posting Genshin content?
Pro Game Guides reported that an April Fools’ Day 2022 character-demo gag featuring the Abyss Lector appeared on the Ella Musk-associated account, @Paimon2theMoon. That later post shows the account being used for Genshin-related social content; it does not establish a partnership with Musk.

The account of the original posts comes from contemporaneous reporting; the original social posts were not independently verified in an accessible official archive. The character description relies on a community-maintained wiki and secondary coverage, so the distinction matters: the documented campaign explains why the names were linked online, but it does not turn that link into confirmed character lore.
