Rotten Tomatoes describes Rachel as a sports-betting stoner, Katie as a controlling Brooklyn mother, and Christina as a free-spirited mother temporarily separated from her children. The premise centers on the sisters and their changing relationships; this summary avoids revealing the ending.
Why does the headline say 98% when Rotten Tomatoes shows 97%?
Rotten Tomatoes displayed a 97% Tomatometer score from 149 critic reviews and an 82% Popcornmeter score from 500+ audience ratings when accessed in 2026. Those are live aggregator figures, not permanent ratings, and the page did not state a publication year for the current totals. Check the page again for the latest numbers.

A secondary Canadian listing from Showtimes showed 98% and 84% audience approval when accessed in 2026. That explains why a 98% figure may circulate, but it does not replace Rotten Tomatoes’ own current listing. Rotten Tomatoes’ Critics Consensus calls the film “a compelling showcase for Natasha Lyonne, Elizabeth Olsen, and Carrie Coon,” praising its balance of difficult family dynamics and warmth.
Is His Three Daughters on Netflix?
Rotten Tomatoes lists Netflix as the streaming service, and Netflix’s official UK title page lists the film and says it can be downloaded for offline viewing. That UK listing does not establish availability in every country; check Netflix in your market, since catalogues can change.

What to know before watching
- Format and tone: A drama focused on family relationships, grief, and caregiving rather than a documentary or a broad comedy.
- Runtime: 1 hour 41 minutes, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
- Release: Limited theatrical release on September 6, 2024, followed by streaming release on September 20, 2024, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
- Ratings: Rotten Tomatoes lists an R rating; Netflix’s UK page displays a 15 rating. Film classifications vary by jurisdiction, so use the rating shown by the local service.
- Language: Rotten Tomatoes lists English as the original language. Netflix UK lists audio and subtitle options on its title page.
Who is the film likely to suit?
Viewers looking for an ensemble drama built around sibling dynamics and an ailing parent may find its premise appealing. Its focus on a father’s final days also makes death and caregiving central subject matter, so it may not be the right choice for someone seeking light, plot-driven entertainment. The strong Tomatometer is a measure of positive critic reviews, not a guarantee that every viewer will respond the same way.
