Dr Disrespect, the online name of Guy Beahm, returned to YouTube on September 6, 2024, with a stream titled “The Truth.” He denied that he or the Twitch user at the center of the controversy exchanged sexually graphic messages or images. That was Beahm’s account—not independent verification of what the messages contained.
What did Dr Disrespect say in his return stream?
Beahm said: “I’ll say it again — neither I, nor the Twitch user, exchanged any sexually graphic messages or images.” Complex quoted that line in its coverage of the September 6 stream. He also challenged Twitch’s justification for banning him, saying that “mutual bantering with inappropriate jokes taken out of context” should not have led to his ban.
Those statements describe Beahm’s position. The return stream did not independently establish the contents of the messages or settle the dispute.
What had Beahm said before returning?
On June 25, 2024, Beahm acknowledged that he had exchanged Twitch Whisper messages with a minor in 2017. In a statement reproduced by Complex, he said: “Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes.” He characterized the conversations as casual and mutual, said they sometimes leaned too far toward inappropriate, and accepted moral responsibility. He also denied criminal conduct and image sharing.

The Washington Post reported that Beahm said no pictures were shared and that he never met the individual. Those, too, were claims in his statement, not findings established by the reporting.
What did reporting say about the messages?
The accounts differ. Rolling Stone reported that an anonymous former Twitch trust-and-safety employee alleged Beahm continued sexually graphic messaging after knowing the recipient was underage. The employee’s allegation is not a court finding, and it conflicts with Beahm’s denial that sexually graphic messages were exchanged.

Beahm’s June acknowledgment that messages occurred and his September denial about their content are separate from the former employee’s account. The available reports do not resolve what the messages contained.
Why was Dr Disrespect banned from Twitch?
Twitch banned Beahm in 2020 without publicly explaining the reason at the time, according to the Washington Post. Later reporting connected the ban to the 2017 messages. In his return stream, Beahm attacked Twitch’s justification and argued that the messages had been taken out of context. The sources cited here establish neither an adjudicated explanation of the ban nor a resolution of the disputed message contents.

What happened to his YouTube channel and studio relationship?
In June 2024, YouTube suspended monetization on Beahm’s channel. The Los Angeles Times reported that a YouTube spokesperson cited “serious allegations against the creator” and said the channel was no longer eligible to earn revenue at that time. Midnight Society, the game studio Beahm co-founded, also ended its relationship with him in June, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. These were platform and studio actions; they do not prove or disprove the disputed allegations. The reporting cited here does not establish what happened to monetization after his September return.
What is known about the return—and what remains unresolved?
The dated sequence is clear: messages at issue reportedly took place in Twitch’s Whisper feature in 2017; Twitch banned Beahm in 2020; he acknowledged messaging a minor on June 25, 2024; and he returned to YouTube on September 6 with a denial about sexually graphic messages or images.
Contemporaneous outlets published different estimates of the stream’s audience: ComicBook.com reported an approximate peak of 250,000 live viewers, while TMZ reported more than 230,000. Because those are differing outlet estimates rather than a single verified platform metric, they should not be treated as an exact count.
Quick Recap
- Beahm’s account: He acknowledged the 2017 messages, described them as sometimes inappropriate, and later denied exchanging sexually graphic messages or images.
- The counterclaim: Rolling Stone reported an anonymous former Twitch employee’s allegation about graphic messages and Beahm’s awareness of the recipient’s age.
- The established outcome: Twitch banned him, YouTube suspended monetization in June 2024, and Midnight Society ended its relationship with him. These actions do not resolve the underlying dispute.
