Yes: DAIMA features Goku in a form officially identified as “Super Saiyan 4 Goku -DAIMA-.” That makes Super Saiyan 4 part of DAIMA’s story. It does not, by itself, make all of Dragon Ball GT part of DAIMA continuity or establish that the two series give the transformation the same origin and rules.
What DAIMA establishes about Super Saiyan 4
DAIMA’s final stretch sets up a confrontation with Third Eye Gomah. In its February 8, 2025 climax announcement, the Dragon Ball Official Site says Goku takes Super Saiyan 3 at the end of episode 17 and points viewers toward the battle in episode 18. The official site later identified the DAIMA version of the form in announcements for figures named “Super Saiyan 4 Goku -DAIMA-.” Those product announcements corroborate the form’s DAIMA identity; they are not a declaration about GT’s place in continuity.
The series itself was introduced as an original Dragon Ball anime based on a new story and characters from Akira Toriyama. Toei’s September 12, 2024 announcement described DAIMA as an original anime, while the Dragon Ball Official Site’s July 19, 2024 announcement credited Toriyama with the original story, character design, and other work. That background matters: DAIMA’s version belongs to DAIMA’s own story, even though the form recalls an earlier Dragon Ball series.
Does DAIMA make Dragon Ball GT canon?
No such conclusion follows from the evidence available in the official announcements. They establish that DAIMA features Super Saiyan 4 Goku; they do not say that GT’s events, timeline, or transformation explanation are now part of DAIMA. The careful answer is narrower: Super Saiyan 4 appears in DAIMA, while the relationship between DAIMA’s continuity and GT’s full storyline remains unconfirmed by these sources.

#1 Best Overall
That distinction separates a form from the story surrounding it. A series can revisit a recognizable transformation without importing every event from the series where audiences previously encountered it. Unless an official source directly connects the continuities, it is better not to describe DAIMA as making all of GT canon.
How DAIMA’s Super Saiyan 4 compares with GT’s
The verified material supports a comparison in identity and continuity scope, but not a detailed comparison of transformation mechanics. It does not provide an official side-by-side account of how DAIMA’s form is achieved, what rules govern it, or whether its origin matches GT’s. Claims about identical causes, limits, or lore would go beyond what these announcements establish.
Rank #2
| Question | What the official material supports |
|---|---|
| Does the form appear in DAIMA? | Yes. Official Dragon Ball product announcements call it “Super Saiyan 4 Goku -DAIMA-.” |
| Does that confirm GT’s complete story in DAIMA continuity? | No. The cited announcements do not make that claim. |
| Are the transformation’s DAIMA and GT mechanics confirmed to be identical? | Not stated in the cited official material. |
Why viewers may see it as a callback to GT
For viewers who associate Super Saiyan 4 with GT, seeing Goku take the form in DAIMA is a substantial visual and franchise callback. It brings a familiar transformation into a new story whose official framing is original, rather than establishing that the new series is a continuation of GT. Calling it a meaningful return is an interpretation of its significance to fans, not a claim that one moment settles the continuity question.
Toei’s release announcement said the Dragon Ball manga franchise had reached “260 million copies worldwide and counting” as of September 2024. That figure is about worldwide manga copies, not DAIMA viewership, sales of Super Saiyan 4 products, or the popularity of this specific form.

DAIMA episode and release context
DAIMA ran for 20 episodes, airing from October 2024 to February 2025, according to Toei Animation’s FY2025.3 results presentation. Toei’s 2024 announcement named Crunchyroll as a subtitled streaming outlet beginning October 11, 2024 in specified territories. That is historical launch information, not confirmation of current streaming availability in every country.
