Was Morphine Love Dion injured in the fatal crash?
Yes. Dion, known for competing on RuPaul’s Drag Race, was a passenger in an Uber involved in a Los Angeles collision early on July 21, 2024, after she attended RuPaul’s DragCon LA. She survived. The word “fatal” refers to the crash: contemporary reports said one person died and six were injured. The sources cited here do not identify the person who died.

Gay Community News and the Miami Herald reported the incident on July 23. GCN placed the crash near the I-10 in Jefferson Park and gave an approximate time of 3:30 a.m. These are details in news coverage, not an official collision reconstruction.
What injuries did Morphine Love Dion suffer?
In an update posted July 29 and reproduced by Just Jared, Dion said she fractured her collarbone, broke her jaw, needed surgery and lost several teeth. She described herself as “a bit sad and traumatized” but “extremely grateful and happy to be alive,” and said she was back in Miami focusing on recovery.

The Miami Herald’s August 1 update also reported the collarbone fracture, jaw injury requiring surgery and lost teeth, and said she was recovering at home in Miami. These are updates from July and August 2024; they do not establish her health today.

GCN reported that the collision began as a one-vehicle crash and developed into a pile-up. That sequence, along with the precise cause of the collision, is not established by the reporting cited here as an official finding. The Miami Herald also reported one death and six people hurt and taken to area hospitals; its August 1 account specified that Dion was among the six. Treat those figures as the outlets’ reporting, rather than an independently confirmed official tally.
GCN and Pride.com reported that Canada’s Drag Race contestant Kaos was riding in the same Uber. GCN said Kaos later posted that they were on bed rest.
GCN also reported a response from an Uber spokesperson: “Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this gut-wrenching crash. We are working to get in touch with the driver and riders to check on their well-being.”
What remains unclear?
The sources cited here do not establish the collision’s exact mechanics, fault, the deceased person’s identity, or an official investigative account. They document the crash as reported at the time and Dion’s recovery updates in the weeks afterward; they should not be read as a current medical update.
