That means the story does not confirm that he is romantically interested in anyone; it does not prove he could never feel attraction.
What the story confirms about Bakugo’s romantic life
The clearest answer is that Bakugo has no confirmed crush in canon. The reviewed sources do not identify a romantic partner for him or establish that he has romantic feelings for a particular character. The distinction matters: an unconfirmed feeling is not the same as an explicit denial that the feeling could exist.

Shueisha’s official My Hero Academia series page lists the manga volumes and the final fanbook, Ultra Age. It is a useful place to identify official series material, but the catalog listing does not settle a romantic interpretation.
Does Bakugo like Deku romantically?
Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya have an emotionally significant relationship shaped by rivalry and their shared history. Some fans interpret that intensity romantically, but fan interpretation is not the same as the manga confirming a romance. The reviewed evidence does not establish Bakugo and Izuku as a couple.

- Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn't got an ounce of power in him
- What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested superpowers called “Quirks”
- Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Being a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study
A 2024 ComicBook.com article reads the pair as rivals with a sibling-like connection and argues they were not headed toward a relationship. That is the article’s interpretation of the story, not a formal statement from creator Kohei Horikoshi.
What the ending says about other characters
A 2025 ComicBook.com report describes the Volume 42 epilogue as implying romantic development between Izuku and Ochaco Uraraka. That concerns those two characters; it does not provide evidence about Bakugo’s feelings.
Rank #2
- MHA Fandom: Midoriya inherits the superpower of the world’s greatest hero, but greatness won’t come easy.
- Includes: The first 20 volumes of the bestselling My Hero Academia manga.
- Format: Softcover, 3840 pages.
How to separate canon from interpretation
- Canon: The reviewed story and sources do not confirm that Bakugo has a crush or romantic partner.
- Interpretation: Readers may see romantic meaning in his bond with Izuku or other characters, but that remains a reading rather than confirmed canon.
- What cannot be concluded: Lack of confirmation does not establish that Bakugo is incapable of attraction, nor does it disprove every fan interpretation.
A 2016 VIZ interview with Horikoshi does not answer whether Bakugo has a crush. It should not be treated as evidence either way on that specific question.
