Dragon Ball DAIMA premiered in Japan on October 11, 2024. Before the premiere, Fuji TV programming head Yuichi Nakajima was reported as saying that all episodes were ready for broadcast. Toei Animation later confirmed that the series’ full 20-episode run aired from October 2024 through February 2025.
When did Dragon Ball DAIMA come out?
The Japanese television premiere was October 11, 2024, according to the Dragon Ball Official Site. Toei Animation’s original announcement, made in October 2023, had given a broader fall 2024 global-release window rather than a specific date for every country or platform. Toei’s announcement also described DAIMA as a new anime series based on original work involving Akira Toriyama.
Were all the episodes finished before the premiere?
In a September 2024 report, Crunchyroll News quoted Fuji TV head of programming Yuichi Nakajima as saying that “all the episodes [of Dragon Ball Daima] are ready” for broadcast. That is an attributed comment reported by Crunchyroll News, not a detailed production disclosure from Toei. Read the report.
Toei’s later reporting establishes what aired: its FY2025 investor presentation states that all 20 episodes ran between October 2024 and February 2025. That confirms the completed broadcast run, while Nakajima’s earlier remark is the specific source for the claim that the episodes were ready before airing. What does the production update actually tell us?
The documented update is about readiness and the eventual episode run—not the scale or cost of production. The cited announcements and presentation do not provide a budget, staff total, animation-hours figure, or production-duration statistic, so “massive” should not be read as a verified measure of resources.
The series was presented as an all-new original anime. The Dragon Ball Official Site credits Toriyama with the original concept, story, and character designs. See the official series announcement.
