After music and acting, Eduardo Xol became widely known as a designer on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, published a home-design guide, and pursued creative work across media. Music remained central to how he described himself. Xol died in 2024, aged 58.
From music and acting to home design
Xol’s early career crossed music and Spanish-language television. His 1990s acting credits included the telenovelas Acapulco, cuerpo y alma (1995), Sentimientos ajenos (1996), and La jaula de oro (1997). In a 2008 interview, People en Español reported that his album La pasión had been released in 1994 and that he had received a Premio Lo Nuestro nomination as artist of the year. Read the 2008 profile.
By that interview, Xol had moved into interior design and was working with families on ABC’s home-makeover series. The Los Angeles Times later reported that he appeared on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition from 2005 to 2012. The program put his design work before a broad television audience, but it was one chapter in a career that also included writing and other creative ambitions.
What Eduardo Xol did after Extreme Makeover
He wrote about redesigning a home
People en Español reported that Xol published Home Sense in April 2007. The guide focused on redecorating without hiring a professional interior designer, extending his design work beyond television and into practical advice for readers.

He planned creative work beyond design television
The 2008 profile described Celebrations: Designing for the Senses as a forthcoming book planned for October that year, with an accompanying music CD. That account documents the plan at the time; it does not establish that the book was ultimately published. An earlier People en Español profile also recorded Xol’s interest in bilingual theater and television projects and in telling stories from his community. Those were ambitions he discussed, not evidence that the projects were completed.
Music remained part of his identity
Xol did not describe design as a clean break from music. In 2008, he told People en Español, “For me, music is my first language.” The profile also connected his interest in design to his grandmother’s respect for plants and described music he composed for the planned book project. Together, these details show creative work continuing across different forms rather than music simply being replaced by television design.
