Before release, Drake described it at a concert as an album with “turned-up songs” as well as “personal feelings.” That is his onstage description, reported by Billboard Canada; it is not a critical assessment of the finished record.
2. The partnership predates the album by years
The collaboration is rooted in OVO Sound: Sony Music Canada says PARTYNEXTDOOR was the first artist signed to Drake’s label, in 2013. The artists had also appeared together on songs including “Over Here,” “Recognize,” “Loyal” and “Come And See Me.” That history makes the joint album a continuation of an established musical relationship rather than a first-time pairing.
