Donald Trump first responded to Taylor Swift’s September 10, 2024 endorsement of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz by saying Swift would “probably pay a price” in the marketplace. Five days later, he posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social. That post did not explicitly refer to her endorsement.
What did Trump say about Swift’s endorsement?
In a Fox News interview the morning after Swift endorsed Harris and Walz, Trump said he was not a Swift fan and called her endorsement of a Democrat predictable. ABC News Australia reported his words: “She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

The remark directly addressed her political endorsement and suggested it could carry consequences for her commercial standing. It was an interview response, rather than a post on social media.
When did Trump post “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”?
On September 15, 2024, Trump posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social. The Washington Post reported that the post did not mention Swift’s endorsement; Axios described it as offering no other context. It came five days after Swift’s announcement and should be distinguished from the earlier Fox News comment, which did refer to her endorsement.

What had Swift said, and why did she speak out?
Swift announced her support for Harris and Walz on Instagram after the September 10 presidential debate. As ABC News reported, she described Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and encouraged voters to research candidates’ positions for themselves.
Her post also addressed AI-generated images that falsely portrayed her as supporting Trump. The Los Angeles Times reported that Trump had reshared images of Swift and supposed “Swifties for Trump,” adding “I accept.” Swift said the images prompted her to be transparent about her actual plans. In the endorsement post, as quoted by ABC News, she wrote: “The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

What do the reported poll and website figures show?
The Washington Post reported an ABC-Ipsos poll in which 81% of adults said Swift’s endorsement made no difference to them, 13% said it made them less likely to support Harris, and 6% said it made them more likely to support her. These are reported reactions, not evidence of actual changes in votes. The figures are attributed to the poll as reported by the Post; its full questionnaire and methodology are not established here.
The Post also reported about 338,000 visits to Vote.gov within 15 hours of Swift’s post, while noting that it was unclear how many visitors registered. A visit is not proof of a completed registration, and the traffic figure does not show that Swift’s endorsement changed anyone’s vote.
