Maturin is named in Stephen King’s The Dark Tower text as “The Turtle Maturin.” That establishes his name and turtle identity in the series, but the official material available here does not settle whether he is the same being as the Turtle in IT. King’s official site describes the Dark Tower as the center of his creative universe; it does not spell out every connection among its characters.
What the Dark Tower text establishes about Maturin
An official preview of a Dark Tower book uses the phrase “The Turtle Maturin.” It is direct evidence that Maturin belongs in the series’ textual world and is identified as a turtle. The preview does not, by itself, establish a complete biography, a precise set of powers, or a full map of his relationships to other beings.

King’s official Dark Tower series page describes the Tower as “the nexus point of the time-space continuum” and calls the series the center of his creative universe. That is the site’s broad framing of the series, not a detailed explanation of Maturin’s role.
Is Maturin the Turtle from IT?
The official sources cited here do not confirm that Maturin and the Turtle in IT are exactly the same entity. King’s official works listing includes both The Dark Tower novels and IT, but listing both works does not establish that identity. Treat the connection as unresolved on this evidence rather than as settled canon.

How to explore the wider Dark Tower context
For readers who want to follow the series around Maturin’s brief textual identification, Stephen King’s official works page lists the Dark Tower books and IT among his works: Stephen King’s works. Simon & Schuster lists The Dark Tower 8-Book Boxed Set (ISBN 9781501163562), a format for readers who want the series together: publisher listing. It is a general series set, not a Maturin-specific edition.
