In March 2018, Us Weekly reported, citing unnamed sources, that Donald Trump Jr. and Aubrey O’Day had an alleged relationship from late 2011 until March 2012, and that Vanessa Trump found emails between them before Trump Jr. ended it. A separate People headline and Yahoo search excerpt referred to “sexy” texts. These are attributed accounts, not independently established facts; the outlets described different kinds of messages.

Did Donald Trump Jr. have an affair with Aubrey O’Day?

Us Weekly reported on March 20, 2018, citing multiple unnamed sources, that the two had an alleged relationship that began toward the end of filming season five of The Celebrity Apprentice in 2011 and continued until March 2012. The cited report does not provide on-the-record confirmation from a named participant, so the claim should be understood as an allegation reported by the outlet, not a confirmed account.

Us Weekly’s March 20 report placed the reported end of the relationship in 2012. It said Vanessa Trump found emails between O’Day and Trump Jr., after which Trump Jr. called it off.

Did Vanessa Trump discover emails or texts?

The accounts should not be combined. Us Weekly described emails. A People story surfaced in Yahoo search results with the headline “Vanessa Trump Discovered ‘Sexy Texts’ from Aubrey O’Day While Donald Jr. Showered: Source.” The Yahoo excerpt attributed that account to an unnamed source, who said the texts appeared on Trump Jr.’s phone on a bedside table while he showered. Because the page itself could not be opened, that detail is supported here only by the headline and search excerpt—not by independent verification.

How did Vanessa Trump reportedly find out?

The March 20 Us Weekly account says Vanessa found emails, but does not establish how she came across them. The bedside-table and shower detail comes from the separate Yahoo-hosted People headline and excerpt about texts; it should not be treated as the same account as the email report.

In a follow-up published March 21, Us Weekly cited an unnamed source who said Vanessa called O’Day and had her children on the phone. That is a source’s account of a private conversation, not an on-the-record statement from Vanessa or O’Day.

What did Aubrey O’Day say about the relationship?

Inside Edition reported on March 21, 2018, that O’Day had discussed an affair with a celebrity she met on a reality show in a 2012 episode of the Risk! podcast. The passage quoted in the report does not name Trump Jr.; later coverage connected the unnamed celebrity to him. The report also cited a Celebrity Apprentice episode in which O’Day said she had a crush on Trump Jr., but that reality-TV remark is not confirmation of an affair.

Inside Edition’s account is therefore relevant context, but it does not independently establish the identity of the celebrity O’Day discussed.

Was the alleged relationship connected to the couple’s separation?

Us Weekly reported that Vanessa Trump and Donald Trump Jr. announced their separation on March 15, 2018, after 12 years of marriage. Their joint statement said: “After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways. We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time.”

The reported end of the alleged relationship was in March 2012, while the separation announcement came in 2018. The cited reports do not establish that the alleged relationship caused the separation. Us Weekly’s separation report quotes the couple’s statement.

What is established—and what remains an allegation?

  • Us Weekly published anonymous-source claims about an alleged relationship, its approximate timeline, emails and a later phone call.
  • The “sexy texts” description comes from a separate People headline and Yahoo search excerpt attributed to an unnamed source; it is not the same evidence as the reported emails.
  • Inside Edition described O’Day discussing an unnamed celebrity on a podcast; identifying that person as Trump Jr. is an interpretation made in later coverage.
  • The reviewed reports do not include a named participant’s on-the-record confirmation of the specific alleged relationship.

Vanity Fair summarized the contemporaneous reporting and noted that online observers interpreted O’Day’s 2013 song “DJT” as relating to the story. That connection was an interpretation, not confirmed evidence of the song’s intended subject. Vanity Fair’s March 20 account attributed the underlying timeline and email claim to Us Weekly.
