Donald Glover first postponed the remaining North American dates of Childish Gambino’s The New World Tour in September 2024, saying he needed to focus on his physical health. The following month, after medical tests and a planned surgery, he cancelled the remaining North American and UK and European dates and said tickets would be refunded. He disclosed a stroke and heart condition publicly later, in November 2025.
What happened to The New World Tour?
The tour began August 11, 2024, in Oklahoma City, according to the Associated Press. Its schedule included North America before planned UK and European dates, with a broader itinerary extending into 2025. The subsequent cancellation announcement specifically named the remaining North American and UK and European dates.
On September 9, Glover announced a postponement of the rest of the North American dates. In a statement reproduced by the American Airlines Center, he wrote: “unfortunately i have to postpone the rest of the north american tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks.” At that point, he asked fans to keep their tickets, saying: “hold onto your tickets. ALL tickets will be honored for the upcoming dates in north america when they are rescheduled.”
That postponement did not turn into a rescheduling. In October, after his New Orleans performance, Glover said he had gone to a Houston hospital to investigate an ailment. Following an assessment and further tests, he said he could not perform the remaining US dates in the available time and had surgery scheduled. He then announced that the remaining North American and UK and European dates were cancelled. The Associated Press reported that the cancellation affected more than 30 scheduled dates across those regions.

Why were the dates cancelled?
In October 2024, Glover described the reason as an ailment that required medical investigation, time he did not have before the remaining US shows, and a scheduled surgery. His cancellation statement, reproduced on The O2’s event page, said: “With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.”
Glover gave a more specific account much later. At a November 2025 performance at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival, he said that after severe head pain during the Louisiana part of the tour, he performed and then went to a Houston hospital. He said a doctor told him, “You had a stroke.” He also said doctors found a hole in his heart and that he had two surgeries. This was his later public account, not the explanation given in the 2024 cancellation announcement. The Associated Press reported his remarks.

Were Childish Gambino tickets refunded?
The October cancellation announcement said tickets would be refunded at the point of purchase. The Prague O2 arena’s notice for the November 12, 2024 show said the concert would not take place and that tickets would be refunded automatically. The O2’s London listing for November 30–December 1, 2024, was marked cancelled.
Those notices describe the announced refund arrangements, not the status of any individual transaction. For a specific purchase, check the original seller or venue and its booking record.
Which tour dates were affected?
The Associated Press reported more than 30 scheduled dates affected by the cancellation across North America, the UK, and Europe. The O2 and Prague venue notices document examples of cancelled European shows. Although the wider tour plan included New Zealand and Australia into early 2025, the cited cancellation announcement named North American and UK and European dates; it should not be read on its own as confirmation that every planned date in Australia and New Zealand was cancelled.
