Donald Glover said he married Michelle White in the morning on a day he was scheduled to film Mr. & Mrs. Smith. He thought he did not need to be on set until noon or 1, so he asked her, “Can we get married today?” He said they also had “a real wedding afterwards, too.”

In an interview published by The Hollywood Reporter on February 7, 2024, Glover described fitting the marriage into a filming day for Mr. & Mrs. Smith, his Prime Video series with Maya Erskine. “There was a day where I don’t think we had to be on set until noon or 1, so, I was like, ‘Can we get married today?’” he recalled. He said he married in the morning and then went to work.
Glover added, “We had a real wedding afterwards, too.” His account distinguishes the morning marriage from the fuller wedding celebration that followed; it does not specify the legal or ceremony arrangements.
How the couple celebrated afterward
After filming, Glover said he and White went to their favorite restaurant. Us Weekly reported that White’s parents and Glover’s mother were waiting at home. The reports do not provide further details about the venue, guest list, or exact form of either event.

Why Glover said he reconsidered marriage
Glover had previously expressed skepticism about marriage. In the interview, he said he had been focused on what he would get out of it and questioned what White was getting from it. He described an honest conversation that shifted his thinking: White told him, “I’m a traditional woman,” and he said, “some part of me was like, ‘And I want to help you be that.’”
