No. Jenny McCarthy was not reported to appear on camera in Blue Bloods’ Reagan family dinners. In an April 2024 account, co-star Bridget Moynahan said McCarthy was connected by phone between takes while Donnie Wahlberg greeted his wife and cast members called out to her.
What did Bridget Moynahan say about Jenny McCarthy?
Moynahan shared the anecdote while appearing with Wahlberg on The Drew Barrymore Show. Parade reported her description of McCarthy as “that extra person at the family dinner,” then quoted her explaining that the phone was there between takes: Wahlberg would say, “Hi, honey,” and the cast would call, “Jenny!” Parade’s April 26, 2024 report and Fox News’ April 24, 2024 report both describe a between-takes phone connection.
That distinction matters: “calls into” describes an off-camera moment during filming, not McCarthy acting in an episode, playing a character, or joining the scripted dinner at the table. The accounts identify her as Wahlberg’s real-life wife.
Why are the Reagan family dinners a notable setting?
The dinners are a recurring gathering of the Reagan family, including Frank (Tom Selleck), Danny (Wahlberg), Erin (Moynahan), Jamie (Will Estes), and family patriarch Henry (Len Cariou). Parade described them as a mainstay from the series’ pilot onward. Their familiar format gives the cast a relaxed moment between takes, even though the scenes themselves are carefully played drama.

In a May 2024 interview with TV Insider, Selleck said the scenes rely on timing and subtext as much as dialogue: viewers know what the characters have been going through, so the meaning lies in how they relate at the table. Wahlberg also spoke about the cast’s closeness and gratitude. The phone anecdote is a small off-camera glimpse of that personal connection, rather than part of the show’s story. TV Insider’s interview provides the dinner-scene context.

No such connection is established by these reports. The McCarthy anecdote concerns Blue Bloods filming and was reported in 2024. The Associated Press later reported that the original series ended in 2024 after 14 seasons and that Boston Blue carries forward some family and dinner-scene traditions. That separate context does not show that McCarthy calls into the new series or that the same between-takes routine continues. The Associated Press report discusses the series transition.
