Petey’s attempt to clone himself creates Li’l Petey, whose bond with Dog Man upends the villain’s plan and draws the characters toward an uneasy alliance.
What is Dog Man about?
The film adapts Dav Pilkey’s children’s book series. In DreamWorks Animation’s version of Dog Man’s origin, a police dog and its human officer are injured on the job. Surgery joins them into one crime-fighting hero: Dog Man. DreamWorks’ film page describes the story and the adaptation.
Petey the Cat tries to clone himself, but the result, a kitten called Li’l Petey, develops an unexpected bond with Dog Man. That connection complicates Petey’s scheme; Dog Man and Petey eventually join forces against a common enemy.
Who does Pete Davidson play?
Davidson voices Petey the Cat, the story’s feline supervillain. The central tension is not simply hero against villain: Li’l Petey’s affection for Dog Man changes the family dynamic and pushes the characters toward cooperation.
