In Nielsen-based 35-day rankings reported in 2025, the 14-season CBS drama placed 14th among broadcast series by average viewers per episode and 38th on a total-viewer list. Those results support calling it a post-finale multiplatform performer; they do not establish a streaming-only rank or viewing total.
What the post-finale rankings actually show
The “eight months after” framing refers to August 23, 2025, roughly eight months after the finale aired on December 13, 2024. It is a retrospective snapshot, not a claim about the series’ audience eight months from today.
Two Nielsen-based rankings reported in 2025 indicate that Blue Bloods retained a sizable audience after its run ended. TV Insider reported that the series ranked 14th among broadcast series by 35-day average multiplatform viewers per episode. It was the only canceled series in that top 20. A separate 2024–25 season list put it 38th on the total-viewer list after 35 days of linear and streaming viewing. TV Insider’s season rankings and its report on broadcast-series rankings describe different lists and measures.
These are meaningful signs of continued reach, but neither is a streaming-only chart. The 14th-place result is an average audience per episode over a 35-day window, not a cumulative season audience or a count of streaming minutes. The 38th-place result also combines linear and streaming viewing. No cited source supplies a Blue Bloods-specific streaming-only rank or minutes total for the post-finale interval, so the available evidence cannot quantify streaming consumption on its own.

How the cancellation and finale fit the story
Why the decision surprised viewers
CBS announced in November 2023 that season 14 would be the final season. The planned 18 episodes were split into two batches: 10 aired in spring 2024 and the last eight in fall. At the time, TVLine reported that the previous season averaged 9.4 million viewers with Live+7 playback and ranked third among CBS dramas in the 2022–23 season. Those numbers help explain why fans and cast members questioned the ending, but they do not reveal the full business or scheduling rationale behind CBS’s decision. TVLine’s cancellation report included statements from CBS leaders Amy Reisenbach and David Stapf calling the series “a beloved part of CBS’ legacy.” Tom Selleck said the show celebrated New York City’s protectors and the importance of family; those remarks describe the show’s significance to its makers, not the network’s reason for ending it.
Finale audience figures use different windows
“End of Tour,” the series finale, aired December 13, 2024. CBS reported 6.7 million overnight viewers, based on VideoAmp data. CBS Research and VideoAmp estimated that the audience could grow beyond 11.4 million with Live+7 playback, which includes delayed viewing. The overnight figure and the Live+7 estimate are not interchangeable measurements. CBS’s finale report provides the figures and their qualifications.

Is Blue Bloods still streaming, and where can you watch it?
CBS’s official Blue Bloods page labels the series “NOW STREAMING,” lists 14 seasons, and offers a “Watch Now” link. That page does not establish a specific service, subscription tier, price, or availability in every country. Streaming catalogs change by territory and over time, so use the current page and service listing for your location rather than assuming a particular platform carries all seasons.
Paramount and Nielsen announced a multi-year audience-measurement agreement effective February 3, 2025, covering Paramount’s broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms, including Paramount+ and Pluto TV. That agreement describes measurement coverage; it does not confirm that Blue Bloods is currently available on Paramount+ in every territory. Paramount’s announcement is about measurement, not a title-by-title streaming catalog.

How to read the numbers without overstating them
- Multiplatform is not streaming-only: the cited 35-day rankings combine linear and streaming viewing.
- A rank is not a viewing total: 14th place describes relative position among broadcast series by average viewers per episode; it does not reveal a streaming audience count.
- Average and cumulative measures differ: the 14th-place figure is an average per episode, while the separate 38th-place list is a total-viewer ranking. They answer different questions.
- Viewing windows matter: overnight finale viewers and the Live+7 estimate reflect different amounts of delayed viewing.
- Industry context is not show-specific evidence: Nielsen reported streaming accounted for 44.8% of total U.S. television usage in May 2025, compared with 44.2% for broadcast and cable combined. That signals streaming’s broad importance, but says nothing directly about how many people streamed Blue Bloods. Nielsen’s May 2025 Gauge report gives those industry-wide shares.
