Spoilers for the theatrical compilation: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training- ends with the Corps beginning preparations for its coming fight with Muzan. Nezuko’s survival in sunlight has changed the stakes, but the movie does not show the final battle—or Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s later meeting with Muzan. It joins the end of the Swordsmith Village arc to the opening of Hashira Training, then hands the story off to the next arc.
What happens at the end of the movie?
The theatrical release combines two episodes: the Swordsmith Village arc’s conclusion, “A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Light,” and the first episode of the Hashira Training arc. The first finishes Tanjiro’s battle with Hantengu and shows Nezuko surviving sunlight. The second shifts the focus to the Demon Slayer Corps preparing for its next confrontation with Muzan. Sony Pictures Canada describes the two parts included in the theatrical event.
In the closing stretch, the Hashira begin training the Corps. The film offers a preview of the training, including Tengen Uzui’s stamina regimen, rather than carrying the story through a new battle with Muzan. Popverse describes the closing training material as a glimpse of the work ahead.
Why does Nezuko surviving sunlight matter?
Nezuko’s survival changes the stakes because it makes her a strategic target in the conflict with Muzan. The movie’s transition from the Swordsmith Village battle to the Corps’ preparation connects that discovery to the danger ahead: the Hashira are organizing the Demon Slayers for the coming fight. The official arc synopsis describes the training as preparation for the battle against Muzan. Read the official Hashira Training arc introduction.

Does Muzan appear at the end of the movie?
No. The theatrical compilation ends with the training setup; it does not end with Kagaya meeting Muzan at the Ubuyashiki mansion. That encounter belongs later in the Hashira Training television arc. The official synopsis for episode 8 says: “During a silent night when the moon shines, Kagaya finally meets Muzan Kibutsuji, who appears at the Ubuyashiki mansion.” That synopsis is for episode 8, not the movie’s ending.
Is the movie just the first episode of the Hashira Training arc?
No. It is a theatrical compilation that pairs the concluding Swordsmith Village episode with the opening Hashira Training episode. The full television arc continues beyond the material shown in the film, including the later episode 8 encounter between Kagaya and Muzan.

The film’s ending is a bridge: Nezuko’s sunlight survival raises the stakes, and the Hashira’s training signals the Corps’ move from the last battle into preparation for the next one. It sets up the conflict with Muzan without resolving it. The animated series is based on Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga, published under Shueisha’s Jump Comics; the official franchise introduction identifies the manga as a 23-volume series and ufotable as the animation-production studio.
