Spoilers for the ending of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The manga’s final volume, Volume 23, closes with a future-generation glimpse that supports the familiar readings of Tanjiro and Kanao, and Zenitsu and Nezuko, as couples. A Hashibira descendant also implies a family line connecting Inosuke and Aoi, though that pairing is less directly established. These are conclusions drawn from descendants—not wedding scenes or explicit narration of each marriage.
Where the romance clues appear
The relevant ending is in chapter 205, “Life Shining Across the Years,” collected in Shueisha’s Volume 23. The chapter looks forward to descendants in the modern day, and those family links are the basis for the endgame pairings readers commonly identify.
The publisher record establishes the volume’s contents and identifies chapters 204 and 205, but it is not a searchable transcript of the chapter. The romance conclusions come from the ending’s family clues, not from the catalog metadata. Volume 23 is the story’s conclusion; English-language readers can consult VIZ’s Volume 23 page.
Which couples does the ending support?
| Pairing | What the ending supports | How directly it is established |
|---|---|---|
| Tanjiro Kamado and Kanao Tsuyuri | The Kamado descendants are commonly understood as evidence that the two formed a family line. | Supported by descendants; the ending does not show or narrate their wedding. |
| Zenitsu Agatsuma and Nezuko Kamado | The descendants associated with their family line support the familiar reading that they became a couple. | Supported by descendants; not an on-page marriage scene. |
| Inosuke Hashibira and Aoi Kanzaki | A future Hashibira descendant is commonly read as implying a family line connecting them. | More inference-sensitive than the other pairings; treat it as an implication, not a directly narrated marriage. |
Tanjiro and Kanao
The Kamado family clue makes Tanjiro and Kanao one of the clearest endgame readings. It supports the conclusion that their relationship led to descendants, but it does not establish a wedding scene or provide an explicit account of when they married.

Zenitsu and Nezuko
The future family links likewise support the common conclusion that Zenitsu and Nezuko formed a family. As with Tanjiro and Kanao, the evidence is the descendant-based ending rather than a narrated marriage.
Inosuke and Aoi
The Hashibira line is generally taken to connect Inosuke and Aoi, but the inference is less direct. It is safest to say the ending implies their family connection rather than presenting their marriage as explicitly shown or stated.

What the final volume added
When Volume 23 was released in Japan on December 4, 2020, the official Demon Slayer portal announcement said it included 39 pages of additional drawn material by Koyoharu Gotouge. That figure describes additional material in the volume; it does not mean the book contains a wholly new 14-page epilogue chapter.
A contemporaneous ComicBook.com report described a correction to promotional wording that had mistakenly suggested a new 14-page epilogue. It reported a breakdown including material cut from serialization, illustrations, special content, an afterword, and sketches. The publisher portal confirms the 39-page total, while that more detailed breakdown is secondary reporting.

Volume 23 supports several romantic endgame pairings, but it does so through future family links rather than explicit wedding scenes. Tanjiro/Kanao and Zenitsu/Nezuko are the clearest commonly accepted conclusions; Inosuke/Aoi is better described as an implication. Keeping that distinction avoids turning descendant clues into scenes the manga does not show.
