What is the Hashira Training Arc?
Hashira Training is a 2024 television anime arc adapted from Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga and animated by ufotable. The Hashira are the Demon Slayer Corps’ strongest swordsmen; the arc centers on their effort to improve the strength of Corps members ahead of the battle with Muzan Kibutsuji. It is a preparation-focused bridge to the next major conflict, as well as a chance to develop relationships within the Corps.
Aniplex’s official introduction frames the training as preparation for the coming decisive battle with Muzan. The arc is not simply a sequence of exercises: it sets the Corps’ broader readiness and the mark-related stakes in view.
Where does Season 4 fit in Demon Slayer?
The official series chronology places Hashira Training after the 2023 Swordsmith Village Arc. At the start, Tanjiro is healing from injuries sustained in that story. The transition takes the narrative from the aftermath of a particular mission toward preparation across the Corps.

The official series portal lists eight episodes for Hashira Training. Aniplex’s Japanese page gives the original Japanese television premiere as May 12, 2024.
How does the story begin?
Tanjiro recovers while the Hashira meet
In the first episode, Sanemi and Obanai go on a mission while Tanjiro recovers at the Butterfly Mansion. The Hashira gather at the Ubuyashiki residence, where Muichiro discusses how the Demon Slayer mark manifests. Training then begins.
Giyu initially stays out
The second episode introduces a personal thread alongside the Corps-wide preparations. Tanjiro visits Giyu, who has not joined the training. Giyu first refuses to engage, then begins to explain his reason. The episode’s official synopsis establishes this setup without requiring a full account of the explanation or later developments.
Tamayo receives an invitation
Also in the second episode, Kagaya’s crow invites Tamayo to Corps headquarters. That detail broadens the arc’s setup beyond the training sessions themselves.

Why are the Hashira training the Corps?
The Hashira Training Arc makes preparation the central problem: the Corps must build its strength ahead of its coming fight with Muzan. By focusing on the organization rather than a single demon-hunting assignment, the arc can show the Hashira’s role in that effort and establish the mark as part of the story’s stakes.
How and where was the arc released?
Aniplex of America announced a Crunchyroll premiere for May 12, 2024, with weekly simulcast episodes in territories where the service was available. That is an original release announcement, not confirmation that the season is currently in every country’s catalog. Streaming availability, subtitles, and dubbed audio can vary by region and date. Aniplex’s Japanese streaming page lists domestic services including Prime Video; that Japan-specific listing does not establish access elsewhere.
For a physical copy, Aniplex lists four Blu-ray/DVD volumes for the arc. Check the edition’s format and region compatibility before buying. The manga is another way to follow the source story, but an exact English volume number for this arc is not established here.
