Did David Gilmour receive $400 million from the Pink Floyd sale?
No public evidence establishes that Gilmour personally received $400 million. Celebrity Net Worth describes the late-2024 transaction as a roughly $400 million sale of Pink Floyd’s recorded-music and name-and-likeness rights, a band-level deal figure. Gilmour’s official biography says a 2019 sale of more than 120 instruments and artefacts raised $21.5 million and that he donated the proceeds to ClientEarth. That is charitable auction revenue, not evidence that he kept the proceeds as personal wealth. In a later interview with The Guardian, he said he had kept some favorite guitars: “To be perfectly truthful, I kept a few guitars back which are my real favourites.”
