Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launched on PS5 on June 26, 2025, and arrived on Windows PC on March 19, 2026. It was a PS5 launch exclusive, not a continuing PS5 exclusive. Here are the confirmed dates, platforms, launch editions and PS5 features—and what the available rating can and cannot tell you about the game’s reception.
When did Death Stranding 2 come out?
PlayStation announced the release date on March 9, 2025, and said preorders would open March 17. The PS5 release followed on June 26, 2025. Kojima Productions announced the game was available on PlayStation 5 that day.
The Windows PC release came later, on March 19, 2026. Kojima Productions lists PC (Windows) as a platform, and the date was announced on PlayStation.Blog by Jay Boor, the studio’s Senior Director of Marketing and Communications. Is Death Stranding 2 still a PS5 exclusive?
No. The game launched first on PS5 in 2025, then came to Windows PC in 2026. Calling it a current PS5 exclusive would therefore be inaccurate. The PlayStation 5 and Windows PC releases are the platforms documented by the studio and PlayStation sources cited above.

What kind of game is Death Stranding 2?
Kojima Productions describes Sam and his companions traveling across Australia on a mission to save humanity. The studio frames the story around the Social Strand concept, which links players’ worlds, and poses the question, “Should we have connected?”
In its PC-launch post, the studio describes a mix of stealth, combat, deliveries and survival, with natural disasters and Timefall among the hazards. What was included in the announced editions?
PlayStation’s March 2025 announcement listed three launch editions and their US prices at announcement. These are historical prices and contents, not current offers or confirmation of present stock. Check a retailer or storefront for current availability and pricing.

The Collector’s Edition announcement specified a digital game download, not a physical game disc. It said the edition would be available through PlayStation and select retailers worldwide; that launch announcement does not establish current stock. The listed contents and prices come from PlayStation’s March 2025 announcement.

The PlayStation Store page currently lists Standard and Digital Deluxe editions, an upgrade add-on, and a five-hour full-game trial for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers. Store listings and trial availability can change, so check the PlayStation Store page for the current offer in your region.
Does the PS5 version support DualSense and PS5 Pro?
The PlayStation Store lists support for DualSense wireless controller vibration and trigger effects on PS5, and describes the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced. These are compatibility features; they do not mean that you need to buy an additional controller.

In an official developer interview, Technical Art Director Takayuki Uchida discussed the game’s day/night cycle and said PS5 Pro players could get higher resolution closer to Resolution Mode while maintaining 60 fps.
