The studio lists the theatrical film as R-rated and 1 hour 59 minutes. Its official Deadpool 2 page also lists Blu-ray, DVD, digital, and streaming availability and surfaces Super Duper Cut material. Specific cut availability can vary by territory and service.
What changes in Once Upon a Deadpool?
A new Fred Savage frame story
Deadpool kidnaps Fred Savage and tells him the events of Deadpool 2 in a bedroom setup modeled on The Princess Bride. Savage interrupts the story along the way. These framing scenes are the PG-13 cut’s most obvious structural addition. GameSpot reported that eight new scenes were shot for this material in 2018; that figure describes the reported framing scenes, not eight new scenes added to the main story. GameSpot’s 2018 report covered the title, release, and framing setup.
A PG-13 content edit, not a new story
The recut removes or bleeps profanity, tones down violence such as dismemberment, removes some adult sequences, and cuts explicit drug references. It is a version of the same main story edited to meet PG-13 expectations, rather than a wholly new plot. Tracy Brown’s Los Angeles Times comparison describes the content changes and the material shared with the extended release.

Shared footage and a post-credits tribute
Some scenes missing from the theatrical release but used in Once Upon a Deadpool also appear in the Super Duper Cut. That overlap does not make the two edits interchangeable: the PG-13 version’s frame story and content edits are distinct. Once Upon a Deadpool also adds a Stan Lee tribute in a post-credits sequence.
What changes in the Super Duper Cut?
The Super Duper Cut expands the film rather than recutting it for a lower rating. It contains added or longer scenes, alternate lines, music changes, and expanded or altered post-credit material. GameSpot’s theatrical-versus-extended comparison gives examples from its scene-by-scene review:

These are examples from a longer comparison, not a complete inventory of every difference. The cut is aimed at viewers who want more footage and alternate jokes; it does not include the Fred Savage framing story.
Which cut should you watch?
- Choose the theatrical cut for the original R-rated theatrical edit.
- Choose the Super Duper Cut if you want added and extended scenes, alternate jokes, and other changes without the Fred Savage frame story.
- Choose Once Upon a Deadpool if you want the story recut to PG-13 expectations, with censored or toned-down adult content and the Fred Savage framing scenes.
Where to find the cuts
The studio’s title page lists Blu-ray, DVD, digital, and streaming for Deadpool 2 and includes Super Duper Cut material. It does not establish that every service or format currently offers every cut. Check the specific service or edition in your region before watching or buying; availability and listed contents can change. Once Upon a Deadpool had a limited US theatrical engagement from December 12 to December 24, 2018, as reported at the time by GameSpot. That historical engagement is not a guide to current streaming or retail availability.
