An AOL article updated February 13, 2026, republished a RadarOnline account that attributes claims about Candy Spelling declining to help Tori Spelling to unnamed sources—not to a verified statement from Dean. The same story describes Candy’s wealth as a reported $600 million, an estimate rather than a documented financial disclosure.
What the report actually says
The AOL/RadarOnline story says Tori Spelling withdrew from a Las Vegas event, citing health concerns. It then relays unnamed-source claims that she was under stress, worried about money, and that her mother, Candy Spelling, had declined to provide financial assistance. The story does not give a direct quote in which Dean McDermott accuses Candy of withholding money, so the headline’s claim that he “called her out” is not confirmed by the report. AOL/RadarOnline, updated February 13, 2026
The same article calls Candy’s wealth “a reported $600million.” It does not document her assets or explain the basis for that estimate. It should therefore be read as a figure repeated in celebrity-wealth reporting, not as a verified accounting.
What is known about the financial claims
AOL/RadarOnline says court records showed more than $1.7 million in tax bills and debt, and mentions lawsuits involving credit cards and personal loans. Because the underlying filings are not provided in the passage, these amounts should be attributed to the article rather than treated as independently verified court findings. The report’s characterization does not by itself establish the current balance or status of any debt.

A 2025 Celebrity Net Worth report described City National Bank’s effort to renew a judgment stemming from a 2012 loan and gave an outstanding balance of $395,729.82. That is the outlet’s account of a bank filing, not a definitive current balance; the docket would need to be checked to establish the latest status. Celebrity Net Worth, 2025
Past public comments are not a snapshot of today
In an October 2013 interview about her book Spelling It Like It Is, Tori Spelling discussed financial setbacks. ABC News quoted her saying, “It’s no mystery why I have money problems.” That comment records what she said at the time; it does not establish her finances in 2026. ABC News, October 25, 2013

A contemporaneous 2013 Los Angeles Times account noted that public descriptions of the couple’s finances differed: Tori spoke about hardship and spending restrictions, while Dean said things were going well. It also reported a then-common estimate that Tori inherited $800,000 after her father Aaron Spelling’s death. That was a figure reported at the time, not a newly verified estate accounting or evidence of present-day wealth. Los Angeles Times, 2013

The Associated Press reported that Tori filed for divorce from Dean in March 2024. Her petition cited irreconcilable differences, listed June 17, 2023, as the separation date, and requested custody and support. Those details describe requests made in the filing; they do not establish the final outcome of the divorce or prove the separate claims about Candy’s response to the family’s finances.
