In a March 2 report, Entertainment Weekly, republished by Yahoo News Canada, said Shepard shared a screenshot reminding him to consume clear liquids on Sunday ahead of a Monday procedure, while Bell was at the ceremony.
Why Dax Shepard was absent from the Actor Awards
Shepard’s reported reason was a colonoscopy scheduled for the Monday after the awards. The report said he shared a screenshot of a conversation reminding him to consume clear liquids on Sunday before the procedure. It did not independently verify his medical records; the detail was attributed to his social-media disclosure.
Shepard also joked that he was eating steak with seeds and nuts. That was a joke reported by the outlet, not medical guidance or an account of what someone should eat before a colonoscopy.
Kristen Bell hosted for the third time
Bell hosted the 2026 Actor Awards. According to the report, it was her third time in the role, following the 2018 and 2025 ceremonies. The Actor Awards were formerly known as the SAG Awards.

What the report said about Shepard backstage
