Why the performance mattered in Los Angeles
The Recording Academy framed the number as a tribute to Los Angeles and people affected by the recent wildfires. The fires had also hit Dawes directly: Taylor Goldsmith lost his home studio and much of the band’s musical equipment, while Griffin Goldsmith’s home in Altadena burned in the Eaton Fire.
