Ele afirmou que parte dos ataques refletia o incômodo de ver um homem preto, pobre e favelado em posição de poder. As reportagens da época registraram as críticas, mas não apuraram a motivação de cada pessoa que as fez.
O que Davi disse sobre as críticas
Na live repercutida pelo POPline em 13 de maio de 2024, Davi associou os ataques à sua origem e à sua ascensão após vencer o reality. A reportagem reproduziu a declaração:
“Porque é difícil ver um preto, pobre e favelado no poder. É difícil ver um negão aqui, óh, de um carro bom, num apartamento bom, numa casa boa, tomando banho de piscina. O pessoal não gosta, não aguenta. Porque se fosse um branquelo que tivesse ganhado o Big Brother, que tivesse onde eu tô, ninguém tava falando nada!”
Essa foi a interpretação de Davi sobre as críticas, não uma conclusão comprovada pelas matérias consultadas. A cobertura não investigou as motivações individuais de quem o criticou.

Por que a atuação de Davi gerou críticas
As críticas relatadas nas reportagens se concentraram na forma como Davi registrava a ajuda durante a tragédia. Em 10 de maio, o iG Gente descreveu questionamentos sobre transmissões de resgates e sobre a abordagem a moradores afetados. A matéria citou um vídeo em que Davi pergunta a um homem como ele se sentia diante da situação; segundo o relato, o morador não responde. Também informou que Davi foi hostilizado por moradores enquanto registrava resgates.
Na publicação do dia 13, o POPline relatou críticas a fotos em que Davi aparecia sorrindo ao lado de vítimas e a lives que mostravam pessoas resgatadas. O que aconteceu depois com a arrecadação
Em 28 de maio de 2024, o Diário Gaúcho noticiou uma controvérsia sobre o uso de um Pix pessoal para arrecadar doações. Segundo a reportagem, Davi afirmou que usou dinheiro arrecadado para custear a viagem ao estado porque não tinha condições de pagá-la com recursos próprios, e prometeu prestar contas.
A matéria também relatou entregas de água potável e cestas básicas em Canoas e trabalho voluntário na cozinha de um hospital universitário. Ela não confirma que a prestação final de contas tenha sido concluída; portanto, não é possível tratar essa promessa como uma auditoria ou comprovação do destino de todas as doações.
