Cuffed jeans were presented by fashion editors as a returning 2025 denim trend, linked to 1990s nostalgia, runway styling and celebrity street style. You do not need a new pair to try it: turn up the hem on jeans you already own, then adjust the cuff and footwear to suit the cut and wash.
Why cuffed jeans returned to the 2025 conversation
British Vogue connected the look to 1990s nostalgia, citing Jennifer Aniston’s 1998 style as a reference and noting cuffed jeans on London streets. Who What Wear also pointed to designers championing the look for Spring 2025, including a wide-leg example from Simone Rocha’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection. These are fashion-editorial observations, not evidence of sales growth or a quantified measure of how widely people adopted the trend.
The coverage showed the turn-up in different proportions rather than as one fixed formula: broad, high cuffs on wide-leg jeans, longer cuffs that draw attention to the hem, and dark-wash denim for a more polished interpretation.

How to try cuffed jeans with what you own
- Choose a pair with enough length. Who What Wear’s Spring 2025 trend coverage specifically suggested turning up a long pair. A hem that is already short may not leave enough fabric for a substantial fold.
- Set the cuff to the shape you want. A wider, higher turn-up echoes the wide-leg runway styling; a longer cuff makes the hem a more prominent part of the outfit. The coverage offers these as styling options, not universal fit rules.
- Check the cut and wash. Wide-leg and relaxed jeans make room for a more noticeable turn-up, while dark-wash denim offers a more polished-looking route. Try the fold on your own jeans to see how it sits before deciding whether a dedicated pre-cuffed pair is worth considering.
- Pair the hem with your shoes. British Vogue suggested platform sandals, Mary-Janes and ballet flats; Ortega’s reported outfit paired an extra-long cuff with platforms. Choose footwear that works with the amount of hem you expose rather than treating any one shoe as required.
For a simple outfit, keep the rest of the look understated, or use denim-on-denim styling as another option described by British Vogue. The cuff itself can be the main change; no new purchase is necessary.
