The announcement introduced the group as three John Curtin College of the Arts students playing grunge, heavy rock, punk and original songs.
Who were the members of Curfew?
The Town of East Fremantle identified Curfew as drummer Reef Robinson, vocalist Lucas Lenane and bassist Will Lerner, all students at John Curtin College of the Arts. PerthNow reported in November 2024 that Robinson and Lenane were 15 and Lerner was 14; those are their ages at the time of publication, not current ages. The Town’s announcement and PerthNow’s report provide the member details.
What music was Curfew scheduled to play?
The Town described the band’s sound as inspired by 1990s grunge, heavy rock and punk, and said the set would include original songs. PerthNow named Silverchair, Nirvana and Green Day as influences on the group’s grunge material. The festival programme also listed Curfew and described its style. The Town’s announcement, PerthNow and the 2024 festival programme document the planned set.
How did the band come together?
According to the Town, Robinson had performed at the festival for the three preceding years. In the previous year, he and Lenane played as Short Sighted; Lerner joined them that year, and the group formed Curfew. The Town’s announcement quoted Lerner, identified as the bassist: “Gigging has been a dream of mine and playing at the George Street Festival seemed like the perfect opportunity.”

Robinson described the festival setting as “a space where the audience is fully immersed in the music, creating a strong connection between the performers and the crowd.” The Town also quoted the group collectively: “For us, it’s a step forward in the music industry and we’re excited to share our passion for grunge and heavy rock with a new crowd.” These comments were published in the Town’s 21 November 2024 announcement.
What was the George Street Festival announcement?
The Town described the George Street Festival in 2024 as a community event with live music, free family-friendly activities, food and beverage, and more than 100 artisan stalls. Its announcement said the festival had been running for over 30 years. Those figures and programme details refer to the Town’s 2024 description, not a current festival schedule. The sources establish that Curfew was announced for the event; they do not confirm whether the performance ultimately took place.
