Who is behind the attack?
The investigation initially puts Evan under suspicion. The BAU then recognizes the bullets as Bob Kinney’s calling card: carved hearts linked to the Lonely Hearts Man. Kinney had a connection to Evan’s casework, but the team finds him dead before it can question him.
What major life change does Tara make?
After a two-week time jump, Tara visits the office and proposes to Rebecca in front of the team. Rebecca accepts, and the two become engaged.

What remains unresolved?
The recap does not settle how Rebecca connects to an older case involving Voit’s uncle, Cyrus, or how that case relates to the person identified as the Disciple. Kinney’s death also leaves the BAU without a chance to question him about the connection to Evan’s casework.
