She initially described the activity as cheeky fun and a challenge to the status quo; in a later interview recap, she also called it a clickbait effort to drive traffic to her website.
What Adams said about the New York activity
PerthNow reported that Adams spent six days flashing in New York in June 2024. The article quoted her saying, “If men can walk around shirtless without fear of reprisal, so too should women.” She also described the activity as “a bit of cheeky fun and challenging the status quo.”
In that account, Adams connected the act to normalizing the sight of women’s breasts. That is her stated perspective, not an independently established explanation of her motives. The report’s description of her position is available in PerthNow’s July 2, 2024 article.
A later account added a promotional motive
A September 25, 2024 rova interview recap attributed another explanation to Adams: “The whole point of it was a clickbait piece to get traffic to my website, which worked.” The recap also said she described people interested in public flashing as potential followers who might pay to access her site. This adds a promotional dimension to the earlier gender-equality framing; it does not establish that either account was the sole motive. Read the rova recap for that later account.

What the New York legal reference does—and does not—show
The 1992 New York Court of Appeals case People v. Santorelli involved two women arrested after exposing their breasts in a public park in Rochester. The court dismissed the informations and held that New York Penal Law § 245.01 did not apply to the conduct presented in that case. A separate concurring opinion argued that the law’s gender-based classification violated the appellants’ equal-protection rights.
That Rochester decision is relevant background, but it is not a blanket ruling about every place or circumstance in New York. The statement that women had been legally able to go topless in New York City for more than 30 years was attributed to Adams in the news report; it was not a holding about New York City made by the court in Santorelli. The court’s decision is available at People v. Santorelli. This account is not legal advice.
