Joe Hooten made sure Corinne Foxx’s parents had roles in his proposal: her father, Jamie Foxx, and her mother, Connie Kline, were both included. Foxx shared the broad story in May 2024; she later described how the plan changed and how her family took part.
What Corinne Foxx said about her parents’ roles
In an Extra interview published May 13, 2024, Foxx said her family was included in Hooten’s proposal. “He made sure that my dad had a little job, my mom had a little job,” she said, calling the gesture sweet.
How the proposal unfolded in Chicago
Foxx later gave the fuller account in British Vogue. Hooten had originally planned to propose in Ireland in spring 2023. When Jamie Foxx’s illness changed the family’s plans and they spent the summer in Chicago while he recovered, Hooten moved the proposal there but kept the intended day.
He found a Chicago park where cherry blossoms were in bloom. Foxx said Hooten flew her mother in from Los Angeles, while her aunts hid nearby and FaceTimed Jamie Foxx so he could be part of the moment. Afterward, Hooten arranged a small celebration in Jamie Foxx’s room at a Chicago rehabilitation centre. Foxx described the gathering as intimate and meaningful.

From proposal to wedding
Corinne Foxx and Joe Hooten married on September 21, 2024, at Jamie Foxx’s home in Thousand Oaks, California, according to Foxx’s British Vogue account. Hooten is her husband in present-day accounts; the May interview described him as her fiancé because it preceded their wedding.
