Yes. Cooper Norris survives the attack at the end of Landman season one, episode five, “Where Is Home.” Jacob Lofland, who plays Cooper, said the assault changes the character’s path and tactics—but described him as still pursuing his goal, not giving up on the oil business.
What happens at the end of episode five?
“Where Is Home” ends with Cooper returning to his pod and being attacked by Manuel’s group. The confrontation follows Cooper’s visit to Ariana, the widow of a worker killed in the oil-rig incident; he goes to help her, making the tragedy more personal for him. The TV Insider interview with Lofland discusses the visit and assault, while the Fort Worth Star-Telegram interview identifies the attack as the episode’s closing turning point.

Does Cooper survive the attack?
Yes. Asked directly whether Cooper is alive, Lofland answered, “Yes, we’re still in there. We’re still here.” That confirms Cooper’s immediate fate after the cliffhanger.
How does the attack change Cooper’s future?
Lofland said the assault changes the route Cooper takes toward his goal. In TV Insider, he explained that events might change “the path and or the direction and how he gets to his end goal,” adding that Cooper “has to change his tactics a touch.” In the Star-Telegram interview, he called it a change in the course Cooper is headed, while teasing that viewers would see “how much better he gets.”

That points to a shift in approach, not confirmation that Cooper abandons his ambition. The interviews do not specify a revenge plan, career change, lasting injury, or any particular later event. Lofland’s remarks are an actor’s explanation and a teaser, not a complete account of Cooper’s subsequent story.
Why does the attack matter to Cooper?
Lofland described Cooper’s feelings after the fatal rig accident as including survivor’s guilt. Helping Ariana makes the loss tangible: Cooper sees the person and family left behind rather than encountering the consequences only as an oilfield incident.
Rank #2
His ambition adds another layer. Lofland said Cooper wants to succeed and build a name independently, partly because he does not want people to assume he receives special treatment as Tommy’s son. The actor also suggested that Cooper does not yet fully grasp what the life he wants entails. Against that backdrop, changing tactics can alter how Cooper pursues success without erasing the ambition itself.

Published December 8 and 10, 2024, while season one was airing, the interviews establish Cooper’s survival and Lofland’s expectation that the attack changes his trajectory. They do not settle the detailed long-term consequences or confirm every later plot development. Lofland also floated a possible intersection between Cooper’s and Tommy’s interests in managing or owning a company, but did not state what would ultimately happen.
