In an interview with People Chica published September 28, 2022, Aguilera discussed Aguilera, a project made up of three EPs: La tormenta, La fuerza and La luz. The interview described it as her first Spanish-language album since Mi reflejo, released in 2000.

The article points to songs that move across different styles and collaborations. It describes “Cuando me de la gana,” featuring Christian Nodal, as a ranchera; “Pa mis muchachas,” featuring Becky G, Nathy Peluso and Nicki Nicole, as a female-empowerment song; and “Santo,” featuring Ozuna, as urban-flavored. Those are the interview’s characterizations of the tracks.
The interview also reported that the album had been nominated for the 2022 Latin Grammy Album of the Year. That is a historical statement from the 2022 article, not a current nomination.

How the album connects to her family and Spanish-language roots
Aguilera said Spanish was spoken predominantly in her home during her early childhood: “I grew up in my early childhood hearing Spanish predominantly spoken in my home.” She described her father as a native of Ecuador and her mother as fluent in Spanish, and said Latin music, culture and language remained close to her.
She also spoke about wanting her children to understand and celebrate their roots. In the interview, she described bringing them close to the musical process, including time around the studio, stage and tour. The project, in her telling, connects a personal family inheritance with what she hopes to pass on to the next generation.

What “No es que no te extrañe” means to Aguilera
Aguilera connected “No es que no te extrañe” to family tension and distant memories involving her father. She described its meaning as internal forgiveness and a willingness to see a larger picture: “The song is actually about internal forgiveness for ourselves and understanding a bigger picture and coming full circle in life.”
She framed letting go of anger as a way to find peace for her own mental wellness. The song’s interpretation is personal: the interview does not present it as a universal formula for resolving family conflict or processing trauma.

What she has said about turning painful experiences into art
The interview revisits Aguilera’s earlier public account of surviving domestic violence and her description of her mother protecting the children. It does not provide additional details that would justify expanding on those experiences.
Aguilera said she had redirected pain into her work: “I have found ways to redirect my pain and turn it into productivity and expression within my career.” Speaking about the themes of La luz, she added, “You never forget, but I refuse to stay stuck in a painful place, and constantly work towards doing the personal work to push forward.”
