There is no established evidence in the reviewed reporting that Blake Lively or Ryan Reynolds asked WME to drop Justin Baldoni or caused the decision. WME denied that either pressured the agency. In February 2025, however, WME executive Ari Emanuel was reported to have said that he personally fired Baldoni. Those accounts distinguish who made the decision from the unresolved question of what, if anything, Lively or Reynolds asked for.
What happened at WME?
Baldoni left WME in late December 2024. TheWrap reported that his agent dropped him on December 21, the day the New York Times published an article about Lively’s allegations. The timing establishes when the departure was reported, but does not by itself establish why the agency acted.
On January 1, 2025, WME rejected the claim that Lively or Reynolds had pressured it to drop Baldoni. The agency also disputed a detail in Baldoni’s account, saying his former representative was not at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere. WME’s statement, as reported by TheWrap, was: “Baldoni’s former representative was not at the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ premiere nor was there any pressure from Reynolds or Lively at any time to drop Baldoni as a client.” TheWrap reported WME’s denial on January 1, 2025.
What did Baldoni allege?
In a complaint filed in January 2025, Baldoni and Wayfarer alleged that Reynolds approached a WME executive at the premiere, characterized the agency as working with a “sexual predator,” and later demanded that the agent drop Baldoni. That is an allegation in the plaintiffs’ complaint, not a court finding. The Associated Press summarized the lawsuit and the parties’ competing accounts.

Baldoni and Wayfarer sued Lively and Reynolds on January 16, seeking at least $400 million and alleging defamation and extortion. The amount was their claimed demand, not a finding about damages or proof of the WME allegation. The AP’s report describes the lawsuit and its allegations.
Who said they made the decision?
In February 2025, E! reported that WME executive Ari Emanuel said he fired Baldoni and discussed his support for Lively and Reynolds. That later account identifies Emanuel as the decision-maker; it does not establish that Lively or Reynolds requested or caused the firing. E! reported Emanuel’s account on February 14, 2025.

How to read the competing accounts
- Did Baldoni leave WME? Yes. TheWrap reported his agent dropped him in December 2024.
- Who said he made the decision? Emanuel was reported in February 2025 to have said that he fired Baldoni.
- Did Lively or Reynolds ask for or cause the firing? WME denied pressure from either. Baldoni’s complaint alleged pressure by Reynolds, but the reviewed reporting does not establish that either person requested or caused Emanuel’s decision.
The broader dispute arose amid competing allegations connected to It Ends With Us. Lively filed a complaint alleging harassment and retaliation in December 2024; Baldoni and Wayfarer later brought their own lawsuit. Those claims should be attributed to the parties who made them, rather than treated as findings. The AP report outlines the competing allegations.
