Colton Underwood and Jordan C. Brown were reportedly dating by summer 2021, went public with their relationship later that year, became engaged in February 2022, and married on May 13, 2023. They announced the birth of their son in September 2024.
Relationship timeline
- Summer 2021: Reported start of dating. The Los Angeles Times reported in February 2022 that Underwood and Brown had been dating since the previous summer. That is a reported start date, distinct from when they confirmed the relationship publicly.
- September 2021: Seen together in Hawaii. Us Weekly reported that the pair were spotted kissing during a Hawaii vacation. Out.com also covered the sightings, noting they had not yet publicly confirmed they were a couple.
- December 2021: Underwood confirms the relationship. Out.com dates his public confirmation to December 1, reporting his statement: “I’m happy, I’m in love, and I’m in a good position.” He added, “Everything as far as that goes has been pretty smooth.” Us Weekly also reported that Underwood said his family had met Brown and that the couple valued privacy.
- December 2021: Birthday tributes on Instagram Stories. Underwood shared birthday photos and tributes to Brown. Out.com reported that one caption described Brown as his “dog-loving, family man, corn-fed love.”
- February 2022: Engagement in Big Sur. The couple got engaged during a weekend getaway in Big Sur after Underwood’s birthday, according to the Los Angeles Times. Underwood told People: “After my birthday, Jordan and I went to Big Sur for a weekend getaway to decompress and relax in nature.” He said he could not have pictured a more beautiful place to celebrate the milestone. Brown’s engagement post, cited by the Times, read: “The only time in my life I’m ok with wasting a bottle of champagne. I love you babe.”
- May 13, 2023: Wedding in Napa Valley. Out.com reported that they married at Carneros Resort and Spa during a three-day celebration. Underwood told People, “We wanted to break some of the traditional norms of what a ceremony and a wedding look like.” He added that for family and friends attending their first queer wedding, “We really want to make it special.” Us Weekly also reported the wedding and quoted their joint post: “The Brown-Underwoods ❤️ May 13th 2023.”
- May–September 2024: Expecting and welcoming a son. Us Weekly reported that Underwood announced in May 2024 that he and Brown were expecting a son. On September 26, 2024, they announced the birth of Bishop Colton Brown-Underwood.

The dated milestones in these reports run from the couple’s reported dating period in summer 2021 through their son’s birth announcement on September 26, 2024. Those reports do not establish later relationship milestones or confirm the couple’s status after that announcement.
