How does this fit Farrell’s Golden Globe record?
The 2025 win was Farrell’s third Golden Globe. His official Golden Globes profile lists earlier wins for In Bruges (2009) and The Banshees of Inisherin (2023). Those were motion-picture musical or comedy actor awards; the Penguin win recognizes television work in a limited-series category.

In a January 7, 2025 Golden Globes article, Farrell praised earlier screen portrayals of the Joker, saying: “What Heath did in Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight was extraordinary, and will live on for future generations. And what Joaquin did with the Joker was exemplified by all the awards that he won. It was extraordinary. It was so special, both of them.”

The Golden Globe Foundation reported that Farrell spent three hours a day in makeup for the role. It quoted him describing the process: “I drank black coffee, listened to ’80s music, and I became a canvas for that team’s brilliance.” The Foundation credits makeup artist Michael Marino with designing the look.
