That is no longer the case’s latest status: on July 24, 2026, Brown pleaded guilty to affray at Southwark Crown Court. The Crown Prosecution Service says sentencing is scheduled for October 26, 2026.
What Brown pleaded not guilty to in 2025
The not-guilty pleas in the original headline refer to two charges added to the case in 2025. On July 11, Brown pleaded not guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm to Abraham Diaw and possessing an offensive weapon—a bottle—in a public place, according to the Associated Press.

Those pleas followed an earlier not-guilty plea. AP reported that Brown pleaded not guilty on June 20, 2025, to grievous bodily harm with intent. The Metropolitan Police said Brown had been charged with that offence on May 15 over an incident at a Hanover Square venue on February 19, 2023. He appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court the following day, was remanded to appear at Southwark Crown Court, and was granted bail on May 21, according to the Metropolitan Police Service.
The case’s current status
On July 24, 2026, Brown and co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu pleaded guilty to one count of affray at Southwark Crown Court, the Crown Prosecution Service reported. AP says prosecutors dropped the assault, attempted grievous bodily harm, and offensive-weapon charges in return for the affray plea. The earlier not-guilty pleas therefore describe a past stage of the proceedings, not Brown’s current plea to the case.

The affray count, as reproduced by AP, said the defendants “used or threatened unlawful violence towards another” and that their conduct together would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for their personal safety. Akinlolu also pleaded guilty to affray.
What prosecutors say happened
The CPS says the incident took place at Tape London in Hanover Square in the early hours of February 19, 2023. Its account says Diaw attended St Mary’s Hospital with head and knee injuries. These details are the prosecution’s account; the reported guilty plea was to affray.

After the plea, Senior Crown Prosecutor Claire Campbell described the prosecution case as “a vicious and unprovoked attack by Brown and Akinlolu in a crowded nightclub where Brown used a glass bottle as a weapon to strike the victim’s head twice.” That is Campbell’s characterization of the case, not a separate finding beyond the affray plea.
