His account of the finale also explains why identifying a suspected Traitor was only part of the challenge: an accusation could put the accuser in danger if the votes did not follow.
CT’s approach: adapt instead of overplaying
In a post-finale interview with TheWrap, carried by Yahoo Entertainment in March 2024, CT summed up his win this way: “I got lucky, but there’s more to it than luck.” He described trying to pivot rather than treating an early plan as something he had to follow regardless of what happened.
CT said he recognized early that “the game was designed to keep you in a state of confusion.” In his view, players who respond to that uncertainty by doing too much can make themselves vulnerable. That is his retrospective account of how he approached the competition, not proof that every choice was planned or that restraint guarantees success. Read CT’s interview with TheWrap, via Yahoo Entertainment.
Why suspicion could be dangerous
For CT, the problem was not simply working out who might be a Traitor. A player also had to survive the consequences of making that case publicly. In Vanity Fair’s joint interview with CT and Trishelle after the finale, he put it plainly: “Because it’s not about just finding a Traitor; you gotta survive a Traitor.”
#1 Best Overall
- INSPIRED BY THE SMASH-HIT TV SERIES: A world filled with secret agendas and cunning strategy is brought to life in this thrilling board game adaptation
- A HIDDEN TRAITOR LIES AMONG YOU: One player is secretly working against the group, sabotaging missions, and plotting to claim the prize for themselves
- DISCOVER SHIELDS AND REWARDS IN THE ARMORY: Use these powerful tools to protect yourself and tip the scales in your favor
- CONFRONTATION AT THE ROUND TABLE: Accuse, argue, and of course, vote! Will you banish the Traitor or unknowingly turn on an innocent Faithful?
- OUTSMART EVERYONE AND SURVIVE THE NIGHT: Only the most cunning will survive. Recommended for 4-6 players, ages 12 and up.
That distinction helps explain the risk in pressing an accusation before enough players are ready to support it. Suspicion by itself does not remove a Traitor, and a failed push can leave the accuser exposed. CT described that as a strategic concern; it should not be read as a claim that he always knew how other contestants would vote. Read Vanity Fair’s interview with CT and Trishelle.
What changed in the finale
The final stretch turned on uncertainty about the other players’ reads and how many Traitors might still be in the game. CT’s account describes his suspicions shifting as the endgame unfolded, rather than a single early theory carrying him all the way through. The distinction matters: the show’s events are one thing; CT’s explanation of what he thought and why is a retrospective interpretation after the outcome was known.

Trishelle’s separate account likewise stresses how little dependable information players had early on and how plans had to adjust. That is her perspective, not CT’s, but it supports the broader point that the contestants were making decisions amid incomplete information. Read Trishelle’s interview with Peacock.
