The “this weekend” in the original news report referred to that 2024 date; it is not a current event invitation.
What was Emma Memma’s Perth appearance?
PerthNow reported on 6 December 2024 that Emma Memma—children’s entertainer Emma Watkins—would take part in BIG W’s Wrapathon at its Karrinyup store on Saturday, 7 December. She was also scheduled to appear at the Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant that evening. The announcement described planned appearances, not confirmation of what ultimately took place. PerthNow’s report
Why gift wrapping was a childhood dream
Watkins told PerthNow that she had wanted a seasonal job wrapping Christmas presents while she was growing up. “I always wanted to be a Christmas wrapper; even growing up in high school my casual holiday job goal was to be a David Jones Christmas wrapper.” She also described taking part in the Wrapathon as nostalgic: “This Wrapathon is taking a nostalgic turn for me because I really love wrapping Christmas presents.” PerthNow
How BIG W’s Wrapathon supported charity
BIG W described the event as its “Australia’s first BIG Wrapathon.” Celebrities, volunteers and BIG W team members were set to wrap gifts in exchange for a gold coin donation. The retailer said proceeds from wrapping paper, tokens and donations would benefit children’s hospitals and research institutes. BIG W also announced it would match donations up to $100,000; that was a matching cap, not a published final fundraising total. BIG W’s announcement
