Perth and Mandurah concertgoers were urged to take a shuttle to Cold Chisel’s Big Five-O shows at Sandalford Wines on 19 and 20 October 2024, after severe traffic delays at a 2023 concert in the Swan Valley. The fares, routes and departure times below applied to those completed shows; they are not current travel advice.
Why bus travel was encouraged
PerthNow reported that traffic jams at Robbie Williams’ 2023 Swan Valley concert caused some attendees to miss the start. Ahead of the Cold Chisel shows, Sandalford also warned of expected congestion on local roads and encouraged patrons to use a shuttle. The available event coverage does not establish how much shuttle use reduced traffic or which transport option was fastest in practice.
Sandalford CEO Grant Brinklow told PerthNow: “We have three routes in and out so GA guests, VIP and ride-share and busses all have separate access,” referring to separate access for general-admission guests, VIP patrons, rideshare and buses. He also said the venue had cleared within an hour after previous Red Hot Summer Tour concerts and expressed confidence the Cold Chisel shows would be handled similarly. That was his expectation, not an independently verified result for the Cold Chisel events.
What the 2024 shuttle arrangements were
| Service | Fare and booking | Route and departure details |
|---|---|---|
| BusWest Perth and Peel routes | PerthNow reported a $30.57 return fare per person for the October 2024 shows. Tickets were sold through Ticketmaster until 3 p.m. Friday, 18 October, and then through the BusWest office on concert days. | Buses were due to depart 20 minutes after the shows on 19 and 20 October 2024. PerthNow described the service generally as covering Perth and Peel stops. |
| Guildford train station shuttle | Sandalford listed a $10 cash return fare, payable to the driver; advance booking was not required for this shuttle. | Ran between Guildford train station and the venue. Sandalford listed other pickup points with advance booking and approximately $30.57 return fares. |
Sandalford’s event page listed pickup locations including Halls Head, Cottesloe, Success, Burswood, Mundaring, Joondalup, Scarborough, Ellenbrook, The Vines, Thornlie, Fremantle, Rockingham and Carine. These were event-specific 2024 details; the page does not make them a standing timetable or current service.

Planning travel for a future Sandalford event
Do not rely on the 2024 fares, routes or post-show timing for another concert. Check that event’s current organizer and venue information, then confirm the shuttle pickup point, return fare, whether advance booking is required, departure time and connection to rail. If driving, use the event’s current road and parking guidance. The historical coverage does not establish that a shuttle is faster than driving or that the same services will run again.
