What was the reported three-week rule?
ELLE’s timeline says Stokes told People in September 2024 that he and Ballerini had a rule against going more than three weeks without seeing each other. That is a careful paraphrase of the report, not a direct quotation from Stokes. The rule describes one couple’s reported way of managing time apart. It is not evidence of a universal relationship guideline, and the available account does not specify how they handled particular schedules or exceptions.
How did Ballerini describe their relationship?
In an interview published by Vanity Fair on October 25, 2024, Ballerini called them “teammates” and said they supported each other’s creative work. Ballerini also said they used the phrase “Do the next right thing” to take life in “bite-size chunks.” That offers context for the couple’s practical framing of demanding lives, but it does not establish that the three-week rule was part of the same conversation or a prescription for other couples.

On November 10, 2025, Us Weekly, citing unnamed sources, reported that Stokes and Ballerini had resumed their relationship after a brief split. The report said they had “never really stopped being in touch.” Because that account is attributed to unnamed sources and dates from 2025, it does not establish their status as of October 8, 2026.
