Charlie Sheen says in his memoir that, during a 1987 visit to the Arkansas governor’s mansion, then-Governor Bill Clinton asked an aide to find out about Sheen’s girlfriend, Dolly Fox. Fox later confirmed the visit and supported Sheen’s recollection, but said the encounter was harmless and that Clinton did nothing wrong to her. The exact remark and Clinton’s intent are not independently established in the reviewed reporting.
What did Charlie Sheen say happened?
In The Book of Sheen, Sheen recounts visiting the Arkansas governor’s mansion in 1987 while filming Three for the Road. He says he went with co-stars Alan Ruck and Kerri Green and brought his then-girlfriend, Dolly Fox. As summarized by People, Sheen says Ruck overheard Clinton whisper to an aide, “Find out what you can about the brunette.” Sheen understood the remark to refer to Fox.
That is Sheen’s account of an alleged exchange, including the interpretation that it concerned Fox. The reporting does not independently verify the whispered words or establish Clinton’s intent.
How did Dolly Fox describe the encounter?
Fox later told Fox News Digital that the visit took place and supported Sheen’s recollection. She also said she did not think Clinton had done anything wrong to her. Fox called the moment harmless and said she had been in love with Sheen at the time. She said she had not thought about the encounter until Sheen wrote about it.

Fox put her view plainly: “It wasn’t creepy. Clinton was never creepy.” Her comments support the recollection of the visit, but they do not turn Sheen’s account of the exact words or their intent into an independently verified fact.
Did Bill Clinton respond?
Fox News Digital reported that it sought comment from Clinton; the reviewed article does not include a response. That leaves Sheen’s memoir account, Fox’s later recollection and qualification, and no response in that coverage. On that basis, “tried to hit on” is Sheen’s characterization of what the alleged remark meant—not an established finding about Clinton’s intentions.

What is The Book of Sheen?
The Book of Sheen is the memoir at the center of the story. The Associated Press reported that Gallery Books released the 359-page book on September 9, 2025. It is Sheen’s account that supplies the alleged remark; Fox’s comments provide her later perspective on the visit.
