Cher discussed Cher: The Memoir, Part One and confirmed she was preparing a new album during her November 18, 2024, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The album announcement is documented, but the sources cited here do not establish whether or when that album was released.
What Cher discussed on Fallon
The show’s official listing describes the November 18, 2024, interview as covering Cher: The Memoir, Part One, a story about stealing a horse and jumping a freight train, and Cher’s performance with Dua Lipa at her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. The listing also says she announced a new album.
What Cher said about writing her memoir
Cher had spoken about the difficulty of writing candidly in an earlier Fallon interview. The Guardian reported that she said she had left out uncomfortable material that still needed to be included: “I just totally chickened out. I didn’t put in some things that need to be in, and they’re not comfortable.” She added, “But they need to be put in, so I have to go back and man up.” These remarks were about her writing process, not a description of what ultimately appeared in the book. The Guardian’s report covered the memoir and her comments.
What is known about the new album
When Fallon asked whether there might be another album, Cher replied, “I’m about to,” according to a contemporaneous WNFM report attributing the quote to Rolling Stone. The Tonight Show listing independently confirms the announcement. Neither source identifies an album title, release date, format, or track list, and they do not establish its current status.

Memoir publication and the announced second volume
Cher: The Memoir, Part One, from Dey Street Books, an imprint of the William Morrow Group at HarperCollins, was reported as scheduled for November 19, 2024. The Guardian said the volume would cover Cher’s early life and her relationship and marriage to Sonny Bono. A separate CBS Sunday Morning listing said the memoir was being released that week and described an interview with correspondent Anthony Mason about her relationship with Bono and her discovery about Cher Enterprises.
The Guardian also reported that the publisher described the project as a two-part memoir, with Part Two expected to follow in 2025. That was the plan reported at the time; the article said no release date had been announced. The cited sources do not verify Part Two’s current publication status.
