An unnamed former partner of Todd Liubinskas reportedly sent Channel 9 presenter Danika Mason a message expressing sympathy after Mason’s planned wedding to Liubinskas was called off. The former partner said she hoped Mason had not been blindsided, but the reported message does not establish that Mason was—or explain why the wedding was cancelled.
What message did Danika Mason receive?
In a report published on 27 September 2023, PerthNow said an unnamed former partner of Todd Liubinskas had offered Mason her condolences. PerthNow attributed the words to an interview with the Daily Mail. The former partner was quoted as saying: “I can only hope that Danika hasn’t been blindsided like I was or going through something similar,” and, “My heart goes out to her if she was.”
The quoted person’s name is not given. Her expressed hope and sympathy are not evidence that Mason was blindsided or that the two situations were alike.
Why was the wedding called off?
The coverage said Mason and Liubinskas called off their planned wedding three weeks before the ceremony. PerthNow reported that the couple had not made an official statement about the cancellation, and the reports supplied no confirmed reason. A PerthNow follow-up about the venue cancellation likewise did not provide an explanation from the couple.

As a result, the reason remains unknown in the cited coverage. The unnamed former partner’s message should not be treated as an explanation.
Who is Danika Mason?
Nine’s biography says Mason joined the network as a newsroom intern and got her first job as an Olympic logger in 2012. She later worked in sports production and reporting, including NRL reporting and Australian Open coverage. Nine’s appointment announcement named her as Today’s sports presenter and noted her work on 9News, The Sunday Footy Show, NRL on Nine and Wide World of Sports.

What happened in Mason’s later relationship news?
In October 2025, Nine reported that Mason was engaged to Liam Knight. That later development is separate from the 2023 cancellation and does not shed light on its private circumstances. Nine’s report covered the engagement.
